It is nearly impossible to narrow down all annual events of Albuquerque into a list of five. This is simply because there are so many of them, some seasonal and others not. However, we tried our best to bring you top events that can give you a new experience in the city.
The Balloon Fiesta
Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta occurs during the first two weeks of October. The event also continues during the weekdays between the two weekends. Hundreds of people with balloons coming from different parts of the world gather together at the city’s Balloon Fiesta Park. There are a lot of fun activities that go with the event for the whole week.
New Mexico State Fair
New Mexico State Fair features a lot of activities including rodeos and cultural performance. It happens in mid-September within the city’s environments. The festival also covers farms animals, demonstrations and even carnival rides. It’s been around for more than 73 years in the city.
Gathering of Nations Powwow occurs in April. It is one of the occasions that bring together a huge population of Native Americans during the last weekend of the month of April. The event happens at the University of New Mexico. Activities that grace the event include dances by more than 500 tribes in the traditional attires. Miss Indian World Pageant and musical concerts finally complete the party.
Annual Day of the Tread
This is a fun-filled and family-oriented event that happens every October at the Civic Plaza. The charges for the event range between $25 and $125. Children are given ticket discounts. The tread also features a Halloween-themed bike ride that covers at least 12 miles. Other activities include a half marathon and a walk that cover 5 to 10 kilometers. The festival is a treat for everyone regardless whether they walk or run.
BackYard Garden Train Show
This celebration occurs during the month of March every year. It is held at Botanic Garden 2601 Central Avenue. At the event, people from New Mexico Garden Railroaders Club demonstrate techniques used to redevelop garden yards. Guests have the opportunity to control several multi=car trains. The tickets are very cheap and are included with the admission.
